Service Order Type
A service order type sorts jobs: "repair", "periodic service", "warranty", "insurance claim". Each type can carry sub-types. Every service order and quotation names a type.
What it is for
The type is required on Service Order and Service Quotation. It is the first criteria of the service order list and of the "by type" tiles on the service board. The In-House Repair tick is stored on the type; nothing reads it, the service order has its own In-House Repair field.
Every field in plain words
General
| Field | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Service Order Type | The code or number of this record | A short unique code, or the next number when a number range is set up. Required. Cannot be changed once saved |
| Name | The name | Free text. Required |
| In-House Repair | In-house type | Recorded only; the order has its own In-House Repair field |
| Block | Stops the record from being picked on new documents | Leave clear while it is in use |
Sub-types (Basic Data tab)
| Column | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Service Order Sub Type | A finer split of the job type | Pick a sub-type of the chosen type |
| Name | Name of the sub-type | Free text |
| Line Text | A note on the line | Free text |
How to configure it
Add the types the business reports on. Add sub-types on the Basic Data tab where one type needs a finer split (for example "insurance claim" split by insurer). The sub-type is offered on the service order after the type.
Scenarios
- A dealer separates paid repairs, warranty repairs and free services. Three types; the warranty type has one sub-type per manufacturer.
What it is connected to
- Service Order - Service Order Type and Service Order Sub Type.
- Service Quotation - Service Order Type.
- Lists and reports - criteria by type and sub-type.
If something looks wrong
- The sub-type list on the order is empty. The type has no lines on its Basic Data tab.
