Operation

An operation is a job the workshop sells: "oil change", "brake pad replacement", "AC gas refill". It carries the resources and parts the job normally needs, and its prices.

What it is for

Picking an operation on a Service Order fills its Requirement lines by itself:

  • every line of the Resource Mapping tab (category, resource group or item, unit, quantity, sale price), and
  • every line of the Service Price tab for that order's customer whose dates cover the order's posting date.

Required Service Object makes the service object required on any service order line using this operation; the save is refused with "Service Object is mandatory" otherwise.

Operation Sales Price keeps one sales price per currency.

How to configure it

  • Resource Mapping lines need a Category, Unit and Quantity greater than zero.
  • Service Price lines need Category, Customer, a Price greater than zero, Date From and Date To; two lines for the same customer may not overlap in dates.
  • Subcontracting, Subcontracting Item and Minimum Qty are stored only.

Scenarios

  • A quick-service chain sells a fixed-price oil change. Operation "OIL" with Resource Mapping: one labour line (worker category, 0.5 hour) and one oil line (item category, 4 litres) at their sale prices.
  • A fleet customer has a negotiated price for the same job. Add a Service Price line for that customer and date range. In this release the Service Price tab has no column set-up, so it cannot be filled: see below.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • The Service Price tab shows an empty grid. The grid has no column registration for this screen in this release. Customer-specific prices cannot be entered; give the price on the order line.
  • Save is refused with "Basic Data - Line ID: … - Unit cannot be empty", "… Inventory Unit cannot be empty", "… Factor cannot zero or negative" or "… Quantity cannot zero or negative". Fix that Resource Mapping line.
  • Save is refused with "Pricing - Line ID: … - duplicating with Line ID: …, Please check date range". Two price lines for one customer overlap.
