Service Object

A service object is one thing the business services: a car, a generator, a container, an air conditioner. It belongs to a customer and a group, and every service request, quotation, order, movement and inspection names it.

What it is for

The object ties the service history together: the service order list, the movement ledger and the readings are all asked by service object.

Three ways a service object comes into being:

  1. Typed here.
  2. Created in bulk by Service Object Base on Parameter.
  3. Created by a sales delivery of an item whose object group has Create Service Object On Sales Delivey ticked. Such an object shows the delivery in the Inventory Transaction block.

The one rule people get wrong: the customer on the object follows the service order. When the customer on a saved Service Order is changed, the object's customer is changed to match when the order is saved.

How to configure it

  • Object Group and Customer are required. Object Group, Category, Customer and the identity fields cannot be changed once saved.
  • The warranty end dates are worked out on the screen: start date plus Warranty Month in Days.
  • Reading Group is stored only.
  • The Basic Data tab shows the manufacturer, controlling, warranty and physical blocks. Vehicle fields (registration, engine, body, fuel, seats, doors, authorised person) are on the second Basic Data layout.

Scenarios

  • A car dealer services cars it did not sell. The service advisor creates the car here with the owner as customer, the registration in Identification No and the chassis number in Manufacture Serial Number.
  • A car changes owner. Change the customer on the next service order; the object follows when the order is saved.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • The object is not offered on a service order. The order lists only objects of its customer. Pick the customer first, or pick the object and let it bring its customer.
  • The customer of the object changed by itself. A service order for this object was saved with another customer.
