Item Group
An item group: a code and name, its place in a hierarchy, instructions, and the attribute groups its items carry.
What it is for
Every item belongs to an item group. The group is a criteria on many lists and reports, and the attribute groups placed on it decide which attributes its items show on the Item screen.
Hierarchy names a parent group; the Hierarchy Tree is then built for you as the parent's tree followed by this group's name.
Shelf Life In Days, Best Before Life In Days and Instructions are recorded on the group. The Item Attribute and Item Batch Attribute parts, and the Warranty and Object Cluster fields, are hidden in the standard configuration.

Scenarios
- A pharmacy chain groups medicines by therapeutic class within a parent group Medicines. Make Medicines as a top group and each class with Hierarchy set to Medicines.
What it is connected to
- Item Sub Group - sub-groups of the group
- Item Attributes Group - attributes for its items
- Item - every item names a group
If something looks wrong
- Items show no Attributes part. The item group has no attribute groups, or the Item Attribute part is still hidden on this screen.
