Brand
A brand: a code, a name and the manufacturer that owns it.
What it is for
A brand is picked on the Brand field of the item in each company (Release Item In Legal Entity) and on a CRM lead. It is also a criteria on the Item In Legal Entity list.
The Manufacture field links the brand to a Manufacture record; nothing checks that the item's own manufacturer matches.
Every field in plain words
| Field | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Brand | The short code of the brand. | Cannot be changed once saved. Required |
| Name | The name shown in lookups and on documents. | A clear name. Required |
| Manufacture | The manufacturer that owns the brand. | Pick a manufacturer |
How to configure it
There is nothing to configure beyond the fields above. Which fields are shown, required or hidden can be changed per company by the consultant in the screen configuration.
Scenarios
- A distributor carries three brands from one principal. Make the three brands here and pick the brand on each item.
What it is connected to
- Release Item In Legal Entity - Brand on the item
- Manufacture - the brand owner
- Lead - a lead can name a brand
If something looks wrong
- "... can not be empty" on Save. The code is missing. Type a code.
- "... already exists" on Save. Another brand already uses this code.
