Maintenance Category
A maintenance category sorts maintenance orders: breakdown, preventive, planned. It decides whether an order must name a notification.
What it is for
Every Maintenance Order and Notification Request names a category.
- Required Maintenance Notification makes the Notification Request field required on a maintenance order of this category.
- An order whose category code is PLM shows the Maintenance Plan button on its operation lines, which copies due visits of the preventive schedule.
- A delivered (predefined) category cannot be deleted: "Maintenance Category - cannot delete this Maintenance Category as it's predefined".
Every field in plain words
General
| Field | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Maintenance Category | The code or number of this record | A short unique code, or the next number when a number range is set up. Cannot be changed once saved |
| Name | The name | Free text |
| Required Maintenance Notification | Maintenance orders of this category must name a notification | Tick to require it |
How to configure it
Keep the delivered categories. Tick Required Maintenance Notification only where every order must come from a notification.
Scenarios
- A plant wants every breakdown order to start from a reported notification. Tick Required Maintenance Notification on the breakdown category. See the warning on Maintenance Notification first.
What it is connected to
If something looks wrong
- Delete is refused because the category is predefined. Delivered categories stay.
- Orders of this category cannot be saved without a notification. Required Maintenance Notification is ticked. Notifications cannot be entered in this release (see Maintenance Notification); clear the tick.
