The item released as a made item

Before you start

  • The finished item released with Replenishment for manufacturing, BOM Unit, Type BOM (FOR for a formula) and a Manufacturing Category.
  • Components released in the company.
  • A Routing if operations and resource hours are to be costed.

Steps

  1. On Usage, make a usage of Type BOM with Production ticked.
  2. Open Bill Of Material, pick the Usage, the Item, Valid From and Valid To and the Site, then Create. The item locks.
  3. Set Quantity: the output quantity the lines are for.
  4. Add the components: item, unit, Quantity, Scrap % if any, Flushing Indicator B (issued automatically on confirmation) or M (by hand), and the Operation when a routing is named.
  5. Tick Approved (or send it for approval when an approval is set up) and Save.

Check it worked

  • On a new manufacturing order for the item, the BOM is offered in Bom/Formula, and its lines come in multiplied by the order quantity.

If something looks wrong

  • The BOM is not offered on the order. It is not approved, not valid on the order date, for another site, or its usage is Costing, Template or Subcontracting.
  • A question about an alternate BOM on Save. Another BOM of the item overlaps the dates.
