How do I plan production from sales orders?

On Master Planning copy the sales order lines in, save, then use Next Action Create Manufacturing Order.

Before you start​

  • Sales orders ready to process (Sales Order).
  • The made items with a Manufacturing Unit.

Steps​

  1. Open Master Planning, give the plan date, dates and manufacturing unit, then Create.
  2. Copy from the sales order on the toolbar and pick the lines. Each keeps its ordered quantity.
  3. Adjust Plan Quantity upwards if you want more, then Save.
  4. Next Action, Create Manufacturing Order. One Planned order is raised per line.

Check it worked​

  • The orders appear on the Manufacture Order list with the plan number.

If something looks wrong​

  • "... has no Bill of Material lines on a Sales Order ..." Make that order by hand, picking the plan.
  • "... has no Production Unit ..." Set the item's Manufacturing Unit.
