How do I keep stock for a customer's order?

Save an Inventory Reservation with Reservation For set to the sales order and its number. The system finds available stock and holds it on the order's lines; no other document can issue it, and the delivery releases it.

Before you start​

  • Site and Warehouse have Use in Reservation ticked.
  • Reserving without a sales order is not supported: a general reservation holds nothing. Move such stock to its own warehouse instead.

Steps​

  1. Open Inventory Reservation, New.
  2. Reservation For: the sales order kind; Reference number: the order; Date From and Date To.
  3. Add the order's items with the quantity to hold, and optionally a batch.
  4. Save.

Check it worked​

  • The sales order lines show their reserved quantity.
  • Available for use on Item Transfer's On hand drops by the reserved quantity.

If something looks wrong​

  • "Stock not available of Item ..." - not enough open, reservable stock.
  • "Line ID : ... already reserve quantity of this item" - the order line is fully reserved.
