Site
A site is the largest place stock is kept in: a factory, a branch, a city depot. Every warehouse belongs to one site, and every stock line can carry a site. Whether an item must name its site, warehouse and location on a line is decided by the item's storage setup, not here.
What it is for
A site groups warehouses. Stock reports can show stock per site, the average cost can be kept per site when the item is valued at site level, and the financial dimension of the site is copied onto the voucher lines of every stock document.
The one rule people get wrong: Use in Reservation is read on the site and on the warehouse. Stock is offered for reservation only when the site has it ticked and the warehouse either has it ticked or is not named on the stock.

Financial dimension
When the company's Inventory Control Setting has Inventory Financial Dimension Required ticked, the financial dimension block shows here, limited to the one dimension named there. That dimension is copied onto every stock line of this site when a stock document is saved.
Address
One line per address. Name of Address is required. Open Purpose on the line and add at least one purpose, or the save is refused. Country, state, city and tax zone are picked from their lists.
The Contacts tab is switched off in the delivered configuration.
How to configure it
- Make one site per physical place that keeps its own stock and, when costs differ by place, its own average cost.
- Tick Use in Reservation on the sites whose stock may be reserved for sales or production orders.
- The financial dimension block appears only when the company setting asks for it.
Scenarios
- A manufacturer with a plant and two sales depots. Three sites. The plant has Create Transfer Request Automatically ticked, so every manufacturing order asks the plant store for its materials.
- A distributor that does not reserve stock in its returns depot. Leave Use in Reservation unticked on that site. Stock there is never offered to a reservation.
What it is connected to
- Warehouse - every warehouse names its site.
- Inventory Control Setting - decides whether the financial dimension block shows.
- Inventory Reservation - reads Use in Reservation.
- Manufacturing Order - the manufacturing order reads Create Transfer Request Automatically.
If something looks wrong
- "Line ID: 1 - Define purpose of the given address." An address line has no purpose. Open Purpose on that line and add one.
- Use in Reservation cannot be ticked. Create Transfer Request Automatically is ticked. Untick it first.
- The financial dimension block is missing. Inventory Financial Dimension Required is off on the Inventory Control Setting.
