How do I correct stock after a count?
Compare the count with As On Inventory, then enter the differences on Inventory Adjustment: shortages on a removing movement, surpluses on an adding movement, each with its reason. Save posts the value.
Before you start
- Run As On Inventory for the count date at warehouse and batch level: see Lists and reports.
- There is no count sheet screen in Inventory: the count is made outside and only the differences are entered.
Steps
- Open Inventory Adjustment and press New. Fill Posting Date (the count date), journal, Site and Warehouse, and Create.
- For each difference add a line: Movement (removing for a shortage, adding for a surplus), Reason, Item No, quantity, and the batch. A surplus line takes the Cost Price filled in for it; check it.
- Save.
Check it worked
- As On Inventory for the count date now matches the count.

Undoing it is Reverse on the toolbar.
If something looks wrong
- "Line ID: ... - Reason is mandatory for Movement: ..." - pick a Reason.
- "Basic Data - Item (...) ... - Stock not available ..." - the shortage is larger than the stock on hand there.
