How do I ship an export order?
For a customer marked foreign, create an Outbound Shipment with the declaration, vessel and bill of lading filled before Create, pick the order lines that travel, set the assessable values, and Save. The goods are then issued against the shipment.
Steps
- Open Outbound Shipment and press New.
- Fill Shipment, Shipment Date, Shipment Mode, Customer, Currency and rate, and every shipping detail you have: declaration, vessel, voyage, forwarder, bill of lading, loading and unloading point. They lock on Create.
- Create. If no order is open for the customer in that currency, you are told there is no shipment available.
- Add the lines from the customer's open order lines; give the quantity travelling.
- Check Assessable Price on each line; it starts at the net price in the company currency.
- Add freight and insurance as cost elements, and spread header cost elements onto the lines.
- Save. Then issue the goods on Item Issue To Sales Order (see How do I deliver goods to a customer?).
Check it worked
- The Outbound Shipment report and list show the shipment; the order lines' export balance goes down.
If something looks wrong
- "There is no Shipment available" - no open order for that customer, currency and date.
- "... Assessable Price cannot be Zero or Negative." - give the declared value.
- "Please apply header cost elements to line" - spread them first.
