How do I book orders that become sales orders only after approval?

Field staff save bookings on Sales Order Journal. With an approval set up on that screen, each approval generates the Sales Order; without one, the next action on the saved booking generates it.

Steps​

  1. Open Sales Order Journal and enter the booking exactly as a Sales Order.
  2. Save. With an approval, it goes to the approvers.
  3. Approve, or, without approval, open the booking and use the next action.
  4. The Sales Order is created, dated today, released, with each line pointing to the booking.

Check it worked​

  • The message names the new Sales Order; the booking can no longer be edited or deleted.

If something looks wrong​

  • "Sales Order '...' has already been generated from this journal." - it was converted already.
  • No next action - an approval is set up; approval generates the order.
