How do I pay a vendor's invoices?
On Payment pick an invoice journal (Journal Indicator VI) and the payee. The posted unpaid instalments appear: tick what you pay, then add Payment Through lines that add up to the Net Payable Amount.
Before you start
- The invoices are Posted (not Park) and in the payment's currency.
- If the journal works through requests, an approved Payment Request.
Steps
- Open Payment. Pick the Transaction Journal, Posting Date, Payee and Currency.
- Create. Clearings fill with open instalments and debit notes. Withholdings fill from the vendor.
- Tick Selected and Full Settle, or type a part amount. Or press auto-pay and type one amount.
- Add Payment Through: Payment Method, Account, Instrument No and Date, Payment Amount equal to Net Payable Amount.
- Save as Posted.
Check it worked
- The invoices' balance is reduced on Vendor Aging; the payment prints from the Payment report.
What posts
| Document | When | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment | Save as Posted | The vendor's payable account (amount cleared); payment fees; adjustments | The Payment Through account; withholding tax payable; exchange gain or loss as it falls |
If something looks wrong
- "No clearings have been found." Nothing posted and open in that currency.
- "Net Payable Amount: ... has to be paid in Payment Through, entered: ..." The through lines do not add up.
