How do I make payments go through a request first?

Mark the payment journal to work through payment requests. Payments on it are refused unless they name a Payment Request, and cannot pay more than the request.

Before you start

  • A payment journal marked to work through payment requests.

Steps

  1. Open Payment Request with that journal, pick the payee, tick the invoices, add the Payment Method. Save.
  2. Review it. Tick Block if it should not be paid.
  3. Open Payment with the same journal and pick the request in Origin Number. Clearings, withholding and methods come from it.
  4. Fill Payment Through and save.

Check it worked

  • The request's Balance Payable Amount drops; the Payment Release Advice report lists it.

If something looks wrong

  • "Payments for Transaction Journal ... must be created against a Payment Request." Pick the request.
  • "... cannot exceed Payment Request Balance Amount: ...".
