User Group

A user group is a named group of users. A journal can name a user group, a role line on User can carry one, and a Notification Rule can send to everyone in a group.

What it is for

The group has a code and a name only. General entries take the user group of their journal.

General

Field	What it means	What to put
User Group	The group code.	Required. A short code; it cannot be changed once the record exists.
Name	The name of the user group, shown next to the code wherever it is picked.	Required.

Nothing to configure beyond the fields above.

What it is connected to

• Picked on these company setup screens: User.
• Picked on Transaction Journal in General ledger.
• Picked on Inventory Origin in Inventory.
• Picked on Order Journal, Purchase Origin in Purchasing.
• Picked on Order Journal, Sales Origin in Sales.
• Picked on Fleet Origin in Service and maintenance.

If something looks wrong

• Save refuses because the code already exists. Codes are unique. Open the existing record from the list instead, or pick another code.
