Resource

A resource is something that does work and costs money by the hour: a machine, a person, a work centre. It belongs to a resource group, sits at a site, and carries its hourly cost, calendar and capabilities.

What it is for

Resource Type, Resource Group and Sub Group are chosen before Create and locked afterwards. On Create the costing lines, the hourly cost and the unit text are copied from the group; changing Standard Cost Per Hour on a line re-adds Per Hour Cost.

What the screen shows depends on the type: the machine type (code M) adds the Component and Machine Details tabs; the person type (code W) shows Employee, and picking an employee fills the resource code and name from it; only the type with code L can be ticked Work Center.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • “Date From cannot be after Date To” A calendar line ends before it starts.
  • “Calendar - Line ID: … overlaps with Line ID: …” Two calendar lines overlap.
  • The Component and Machine Details tabs are missing. They show only for the machine type.
