How do I invoice goods delivered against a sales order?

On Customer Invoice, pick the sales transaction journal and the customer, pick the Sale Order (or the Outbound Shipment for a foreign customer), press Create: the lines come from the goods issued and not yet invoiced. Save posts it. Your sales settings may already raise this invoice by itself when the goods are issued.

Goods issued against the sales order (Sales Order, Item Issue To Sales Order)

Steps

  1. Open Customer Invoice, New.
  2. Pick the sales Transaction Journal, the Posting Date (not before the delivery's) and the Customer.
  3. Pick the Sale Order, or for a foreign customer the Outbound Shipment.
  4. Press Create. Lines, quantities, units and the order's charges come in. The price is locked unless Is Price Can Enable is on.
  5. Save.

Check it worked

  • The sales order shows the quantity as invoiced; a second invoice for the same lines is refused.

If something looks wrong

  • "... is already invoiced for Sales Order ..." / "... cannot exceed Balance Quantity ...". That delivery is already invoiced.
  • "Cannot Create Smaller than DC Posting Date". Use a posting date on or after the delivery.
  • "Invoice has been stopped for Sales Order: ...". Invoicing is stopped on the order.
