How do I create a customer?

A customer that is new to the group is created on Customer In Legal Entity: one save makes both the group record and this company's record. A customer another company already has is brought in with Release Customer In Legal Entity.

Steps

  1. Open Customer In Legal Entity and press New.
  2. Type the header. Customer (the number, such as C-00125), Name, Customer Category (person or organisation) and Customer Group. The group fills Payment Term and Payment Method.
  3. Press Create. The header locks.
  4. Fill the tabs you use. Tax Zone and Credit on Invoicing and collection; pricing, site and sales structure on Sales; at least one address and one contact.
  5. Add the registrations the group requires on the Registration tab, such as the tax number.
  6. Save.

For a customer the group already has: open Release Customer In Legal Entity, pick the customer from the list (it shows only customers not yet in this company), press Create, fill this company's terms, and save.

Check it worked

  • The customer appears on the Customer Legal Entity list, and can be picked on a Customer Invoice, which fills its term, method and tax zone.

If something looks wrong

  • "Customer already exists with this name". Search for it; for another company use Release Customer In Legal Entity.
  • "Registration - Registration Authority ... of Registration Group ... is mandatory". Add the registration the group asks for.
  • "Pricing Group is mandatory". The group requires a pricing group on the Sales tab.
