Parameter Profile

A parameter profile is a named set of field defaults: on this screen, in this company, this field starts with this value, is required, or is greyed. Give the profile to users on User, and every user who carries it gets those defaults.

What it is for

Typing the same defaults on each user’s User Parameter Value is slow. A profile does it once. When the profile is saved, its lines are copied into the User Parameter Value of every user who carries it, replacing that profile’s earlier lines and leaving the user’s other lines alone.

At least one line is required, and the same company, screen and field may appear only once.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • “Basic Data Lines cannot be empty” Add at least one line.
  • “Parameter Profile - Line ID: … is duplicated with Line ID: …” The same company, screen and field are on two lines.
  • A user does not get the profile’s defaults. The profile is not on that user, or the profile was given before its last change: save the profile again to copy its lines.
