Fixed Assets Setting
Fixed Assets Setting holds, for one company (legal entity), the field rules of the Fixed Asset screens: which field starts filled in and with what, which must be answered, which is shown greyed, and which is not shown at all.
What it is for
The delivered screens are the same for every company. This screen lets one company settle a field once for all its users: Notes required on every acquisition, a default Transaction Journal, the insurance block hidden on the asset card. A rule a user sets for themselves replaces the company's rule for that user.
There is one setting per legal entity.
Every field in plain words
| Field | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Legal Entity | The company the rules apply to | Required. One setting per legal entity |
Default Parameters tab
| Column | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Processcode | The screen the rule is for | Pick a screen, for example Asset Acquisition |
| Object No | The field | Pick the field |
| Value | The value the field starts with | A journal code, a date, a tick |
| Mandatory | The field must be answered | Tick |
| Disable | The field is shown greyed and cannot be changed | Tick |
| Hidden | The field is not shown. A group heading can be hidden too, and its whole section goes | Tick |
Validation tab
| Column | What it means |

| Processcode | The screen |
| Special Validation | A special validation attached to that screen |
How to configure it
- Create the setting for the legal entity.
- Add one line per field rule. Keep it short: every hidden field is one less question at the screen, and one less thing a user can see.
- A rule can hide a field or make it mandatory; it cannot show a field the delivered configuration hides.
Scenarios
- Every acquisition must say why it was bought. Processcode Asset Acquisition, Object No Notes, Mandatory ticked.
- The company never insures through Businessflo. Processcode Asset Master, hide the insurance group heading.
- All acquisitions go through one journal. Processcode Asset Acquisition, Object No Transaction Journal, Value the journal's code.
What it is connected to
- Every Fixed Asset screen reads its own lines from here when it opens. See How a screen works.
- Set up a new company - where this screen fits in the setup order.
If something looks wrong
- The save is refused on the legal entity. A setting for that legal entity already exists. Open it instead.
- A rule does not show up. Check that Processcode names the screen you are on and Object No the field, and that no rule of your own replaces it.
