What posts in Purchasing
No document in Purchasing posts. Requisitions, quotations, orders, return orders, shipments and agreements are commitments and plans. The purchase reaches the stock and the accounts on the receipt and on the vendor invoice, which belong to other areas.

Where the accounts come from
The account on a purchase order line is the one the vendor invoice and the receipt will later charge. It is filled from the vendor's purchase account in the posting profile when you leave it empty, and you can change it on the line. The Accounting button on the purchase order and the requisition shows these accounts and amounts before anything posts.
Undoing a posting
There is nothing to reverse in Purchasing. No Purchasing screen has Reverse: a document is changed or deleted, and deleting is refused once a receipt, shipment, picking list or return has used it.
Documents that never post
- Purchase Order and return order. A commitment. Stock and the vendor's balance move on the receipt (or the return) and the invoice.
- Purchase Requisition, Purchase Quotation, Request For Quotation Reply, Quotation Compare. Sourcing only.
- Incoming Shipment. Values the import for customs and carries the landed cost elements; the receipt against it is what moves stock.
- Purchase Order Closure. Stops lines; posts nothing.
- Budget check. Reads the ledger budget; it does not book an encumbrance.
