How do I agree prices with a vendor for a period?
Make a Purchase Agreement for the vendor and period, with the item-quantity commitment, and a line per item, unit and price. While it is valid, a purchase order line for that vendor, currency, item, unit and project takes the agreed price before the price list.
Steps
- Open Purchase Agreement, New. Subject, Agreement Classification, Agreement Commitment (the item-quantity one), Vendor Account, Date From, Date To, Currency, and Project if it is for one project. Create.
- Add a line per item: Item No, Unit, Quantity, Price.
- Save.
Check it worked
- On a new purchase order for the vendor, the item's line shows the agreed price, with Purchase Agreement as its Price Origin.
If something looks wrong
- The order took the price list's price. The order's unit, currency, project or date does not match the agreement, or the commitment is not the item-quantity one.
- Ordering more than the agreed quantity was not stopped. The agreement does not check quantities.
