How do I order from a sister company?

Set the vendor up as inter-company with orders, pointing at the other company and the customer that stands for you there. A purchase order on that vendor then makes, on save, a sales order in the other company with the same items, quantities and prices.

Who
The buyer
Takes effect
On save of the order (after approval, where it needs one)
Needs first
The vendor marked inter-company with orders, naming the other company and its customer (see the Intercompany fields on Release Vendor In Legal Entity); a Purchase Organization that names a sales organization and a site

Steps

  1. Open Purchase Order, Purchase Type PO, pick the inter-company vendor and a Purchase Organization and Group. Create.
  2. Add item lines and save.
    • A sales order is made in the other company for the customer that stands for you, with the item lines, the sales organization and site of the Purchase Organization, and each item's default warehouse there.
    • Saving the order again updates that sales order.

Check it worked

  • In the other company, a sales order carries this purchase order as its origin.

If something looks wrong

  • "Inter Company Order: Purchase Organization is not Configure correctly", "... Sales Organization is not defined inside Purchase Organization", "... Site is not defined inside ... Sales Organization". Complete the Purchase Organization.
  • "Interunit Order Item ... already delivered, you cannot change this Purchase Order". The other company has delivered.
  • "Cannot delete Inter Company auto generated Order". An order made by the other side cannot be deleted here.
