Transfer Order

The transfer that travels. The order says what goes from which site and warehouse to which. It is then picked, shipped with a Transfer Shipment into the source warehouse's in-transit warehouse, and received with a Transfer Receipt at the destination.

What it is for

Goods on a truck belong to neither branch. The in-transit warehouse holds them in between, so both branches' stock is right while the truck is on the road.

The order itself moves no stock. When the journal has automatic transfer shipment ticked, saving the order also creates and posts the shipment into the in-transit warehouse straight away.

The one rule people get wrong: once a picking list or a shipment exists, the order's sites and warehouses are locked, lines that were processed cannot be removed or cut below what was processed, and the order cannot be deleted. With automatic shipment, the order cannot be saved again while its shipment stands: reverse the shipment first.
