Inventory Split

One batch of one item is split into several other items. The source batch goes out by the total quantity of the lines; each line comes in as its own item and batch. When a passed quality inspection gave the batch's composition, the lines are suggested from it.

The source batch in stock; a split movement and its reverse movement

What it is for

It records a breakdown as stock: out of the source batch, into the parts. The parts may carry their own batch numbers and batch attributes.

The one rule people get wrong: the source goes out by the sum of the lines' inventory quantities, not by a quantity typed on the header. Enter every part, waste included, so the source batch is emptied by the right amount.

A split cannot be edited or deleted after Save. Reverse it.

What happens on Save

One stock document is posted: the source item out of its batch, each part in. See How stock documents work.

If something looks wrong

  • "Basic Data - Line ID : ... - Item cannot be Empty" / "... Movement Unit cannot be Empty" / "... Movement Quantity cannot be Zero"
  • "Basic Data - Line ID : ... - Batch Attribute ... cannot be empty" - the part requires that attribute.
  • "No Batch Attribute Found" - the part has no batch attributes.
  • "Stock not available" - the source batch holds less than the parts add up to.
