An opportunity records what a customer may want: the requirement in words and as lines with a unit and quantity, the dates it is needed by and expires on, and how likely it is.

What it is for
The opportunity is a record of a requirement. It does not move through a pipeline, it has no owner field and nothing is created from it: the deal-tracking document of the CRM is the Lead. Use the opportunity where a company wants to note requirements before, or without, working them as leads.

What it is connected to
If something looks wrong
- A Required Date earlier than the Opportunity Date is accepted. The screen does not check the order of these dates.
