Credit Rule

A credit rule says where a customer's credit is checked and what happens when it is breached. The limit itself is on the customer or its Credit Area; the rule is the switch.

What it is for

A new rule fills its grid with every process that can be credit-checked. You tick Apply on for the ones to check and pick an Action. Lines cannot be added or removed.

What the actions do when a released sales order or sales order journal breaches the limit or the overdue days:

  • Stop. The document cannot be saved: "... This Sales Order cannot be saved."
  • Any other action (a warning). The user is asked "Are you sure you want to Save?" and may continue. The document records that the limit was overridden.

A rule line for a process other than the sales order and the sales order journal does nothing today: the check on customer invoices is switched off in the screen.

How to configure it

Put the rule on the customer (Credit Rule on Customer In Legal Entity). The customer's Credit Rule becomes mandatory as soon as it has a credit limit, overdue days or a credit area.

Scenarios

  • Warn the salesperson, let the manager decide. Action warning on the sales order. The user sees the warning and can continue.
  • Hard block for overdue customers. Action Stop, and overdue days on the customer or its credit area.
