How do I change a standard role?

Standard roles are kept up to date by ABS and cannot be changed. Open the role on Roles, press Clone, give the copy a new code, change it and give it to users instead.

Before you start​

  • The standard role to start from.

Steps​

  1. Open Roles and the standard role (Predefine ticked).
  2. Press Clone. A new role opens with the same lines, Predefine cleared.
  3. Type a new Role code and Name, change the lines, and Save.
  4. On User, replace the standard role with the new one on the Role tab.

Check it worked​

  • Users with the new role see its screens on their next sign-in.

If something looks wrong​

  • “… is a standard role: ABS keeps it up to date. Clone it to make a company role you can change.” You tried to save or delete a standard role.
  • A right does not stick. The screen itself does not allow it; Save clears it.
