Account Grouping and Number
This screen defines a chart of accounts: its code and name, and its account groups, each under an account nature and with a range of account numbers. A new account takes the next free number of its group's range. Each company's Ledger Setup picks the chart it uses; several companies can share one chart.
Every field in plain words
| Field | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Chart | The chart's code | Required. Unique |
| Name | The chart's name | Required. Unique |
| Block | Stop offering the chart | |
| Account Nature (lines) | The top level the group belongs to, such as assets or expenses | Required |
| Account Group (lines) | The group's code | Required. Each group once per chart |
| Name (lines) | The group's name, such as Bank accounts | |
| Account From, Account To (lines) | The numbers accounts of this group get | Numbers. From must be below To, and ranges must not overlap |
How to configure it
Leave room in every range. When a group's range is used up, no new account can be made in it. A company that ticks Custom Number Range on General Ledger Setting types its own numbers and does not need ranges.
Scenarios
