Warehouse (3PL)

A warehouse of the 3PL Warehouse module: a building where you store goods that belong to your customers. It holds a code, a name, the addresses and the contacts. It is separate from the warehouses that hold your own stock in Inventory.

What it is for

The 3PL Warehouse module is for a business that stores other companies' goods: a third-party logistics provider. Its screens keep a record of what came in for which customer and what went out. They do not touch your own stock, your item master or your accounts.

A 3PL warehouse is picked on every line of a Warehouse Receipt, Warehouse Release and Adjustment, and on a Warehouse Zone.

Not the same as an Inventory warehouse

A warehouse made here is not offered on stock screens, and an Inventory warehouse is not offered on 3PL screens. If you hold your own stock and customers' goods in the same building, set it up once in each place.

Every field in plain words

General tab

FieldWhat it meansWhat to put
WarehouseThe codeA short code such as 3PL-KHI. Required
NameThe name people seeSuch as Port warehouse. Required. Kept per language
BlockMarks the warehouse as blockedRecorded only. The warehouse lookup on 3PL documents still offers a blocked warehouse

Address tab

One line per address of the building: Name of Address (required), Purpose, Address, Country, Country Region, State, City, Tax Zone, Timezone, Latitude and Longitude, Primary Address, and the other columns of the standard address grid. The Purpose link on a line opens a small grid to give one address several purposes.

Contacts tab

One line per contact: Person and Contact are required, then Contact Nature, picked from the list of contact types, Extension and Primary.

How to configure it

Create one record per building. The addresses and contacts are for reference: no 3PL document or form prints them.

Scenarios

  • A logistics company with two bonded warehouses. Two records, one per building. Each receipt line says which building the goods went into.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • My Inventory warehouse is not offered on a Warehouse Receipt line. 3PL lines offer only warehouses made on this screen.
