Quality Point

The rule that triggers inspection. For an item (or a quality group of items) received on a given movement at a given site, it names the inspection group to use. It can also block the vendor invoice until the inspection passes.

Where

Who uses it

When
At setup, for each item or quality group that needs inspection
Needs first
The item marked as needing quality; an inspection group; a quality group, if used

What it is for

A receipt line raises an inspection order only when the item needs quality and a quality point matches it. When several match, the most specific wins: a point for the vendor beats one for any vendor, then one for the manufacturer, then one for the item's lifecycle status.

The one rule people get wrong: an item marked as needing quality with no matching quality point is refused at receipt: "Quality Point is not configured of item ...".

The Movements grid (movement direction, movement, inspection group) is recorded only: matching reads the header. Its inspection group column has no field definition and is never shown.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • "You can't create it on (module) and (base on) because it is already exists." - a point with the same module, base, site, movement, vendor and manufacturer exists.
  • "A record with the same module and Quality Point Name already exists."
