Sales Budget
The sales target. Each line sets a quantity and an amount for an item, an item variant, an item group, a budget group or a sale category, optionally for one region, area, territory, sales responsible or sales taker, spread across the periods of the budget period. It is compared with actual sales in the sales budget lists. It does not stop any sale.
What it is for
It sets what each part of the sales force should sell, and the Sales Budget vs Actual lists show how far they have come.
The rule people get wrong: a sales budget is a target, not a limit. Sales orders are not checked against it.

How to configure it
Lines can be imported from a spreadsheet: without period columns each line is spread equally; with breakup columns, the breakup is taken as given. Default values per company come from Budget Setting.
Scenarios
- A distributor sets monthly targets per salesman per brand. One line per sales taker and item group, with the year's quantity and amount; adjust the month breakup for the season.
