Tax Zone
A tax zone lists the tax codes that apply to a kind of counterparty or place: "registered buyer in the province", "unregistered buyer", "export". A document line's taxes are the codes that are in both its zone and its Tax Group. A code can be in the zone and still marked Exempt.
Every field in plain words
| Field | What it means | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Tax Zone | The code | Required. Unique |
| Name | The name | Required. Unique |
| Tax Code (lines) | A tax code that applies in the zone | Required on a line |
| Exempt (lines) | The tax is charged at 0 in this zone | Tick for exemptions |
| Exempt Code (lines) | The reference of the exemption | Carried to the tax line of the document |
Country, Country Region, State and City are on the record but hidden. A blocked zone gives no taxes. Release the zone before use.
Scenarios
- Exports are zero-rated. Zone "Export": the sales tax code with Exempt ticked and the exemption reference.
